What Clients Want

​How to give clients what they want, over and above technically accurate legal advice – as told by a real client.

​

​This session gives the client's view on three key skills lawyers need to demonstrate to set themselves apart from their competition: Communication; Problem-Solving; and Building Trust. 

​

​The session will provide practical guidance on how to develop and demonstrate these traits through real-life examples from my 10 years as a client at Goldman Sachs.

 

There's even a bit of levity too.

Communicating with Clients

This session focuses on the key element that distinguishes legal services professionals who are user-friendly and cherished by clients versus those to whom clients are unlikely to return: effective communication. 

​

​Participants will receive practical guidance on how to assess their audience first, so that they can adjust the content of their communications to their specific recipient.

​

​For verbal communications, participants will receive step-by-step guidance on how to speak so people will listen and understand, through structure, clarity of language and accomplished delivery.

 

For written communications, participants will be guided on how to plan, prepare and deliver communications that their recipients will understand with ease.

Building an Emotionally
Skilled Practice

​This session focuses on training participants to think more broadly about their contribution to the firm and their colleagues through increasing their emotional skill.

​

We begin with emotional intelligence and how critical it is to develop as a skill in building a successful practice and sustaining a long career. We delve into each of the core elements of EI to provide practical guidance on how to become more adept in each element. 

​

The session also focuses on the importance of developing psychological safety in Legal teams, in order to increase learning and deliver client service.

Virtual Communications

​This session focuses on the challenges and opportunities presented by communicating in a virtual setting.

​Participants will learn how to adjust the Content, Design and Delivery of their messages, so that their virtual communications are easy to understand and engaging for their audience.

​

​Everything your audience can see in a virtual setting is part of the show. Participants will be given a step-by-step guide to staging their virtual environment. This includes the use of lighting, audio, camera angles and their background.
